How the Boum app helps with gardening – even from a distance

Whether it's gardening for frequent travelers, support for plant lovers who can't carry water every day, or simply as a way to check on the well-being of their beloved plants at any time - the Boum app makes plant care smart, taking away work and worry.

  • Daily watering
Water once a day as needed.
  • Check water level
How much water is in the tank and how long would it last at current water consumption?
  • Temperature check, humidity and sunlight
Is the sun blazing at home? Or have the temperatures unexpectedly dropped?
  • Memories
If water is running low, the app will alert you in a timely manner. It also sends a notification if the plant needs fertilizer.
  • Targeted help
If the water tank is empty, helpers can be specifically asked to refill it—so they don't have to drop by on suspicion. Whether it's to help elderly or sick people or simply to be kind neighbors.
  • Sharing
The app can be used by multiple people simultaneously. This allows households to take care of plants together, or helpers can monitor water levels remotely. Screenshots of the Boum app

For whom is the app particularly helpful?

1. Help for seniors and people with physical disabilities

For anyone who can't carry water every day—whether due to age or a disability. With the help of the app, caregivers and helpers don't have to come by every day, yet you don't have to miss out on gardening and enjoying flowering plants or homegrown vegetables.

2. Plant rescue for travelers

Are your plants always suffering, whether you're on the go or at home? Vacations, travel, and business trips often get in the way of a thriving garden—a reason, especially for frequent travelers, to opt for more robust plants rather than the ones they actually want. The app provides a solution here, too, automatically taking care of watering while you're away. You can use the app to check on the status of your plants at any time while you're on the go.

3. Reassurance for worried plant owners

Anyone who loves their plants can sometimes get anxious while on the road: Is the sun blazing at home? Did I water them before leaving? If you want to check on them from afar, you can do so with an app.

Share plant care – use the app together

The Boum app has been further developed and now offers a household feature. Whether you live together and want to share plant care, or you're helping elderly people remotely and checking the water level via the app, family members and helpers can simply be invited to a system, and off you go.

There are two user roles:

  • Viewer : Sees all systems, pots and plants, but cannot change anything.
  • Editor : Has full access to all functions.

What else can the Boum app do?

The Boum app is constantly being developed, and the features that help with plant care and enable remote monitoring are just a few of the features.

1. Growing Plant Database (Beta)

The plant database now lists 3,500 plants, including the Boum plants and many more. Those seeking information will find useful tips on soil, nutrients, and water requirements here. The data comes from our biologists and, in the case of our Boum plants, from months of testing.

2. Your personal gardening assistant – Chatbot Herby (Beta)

Quick question about your plant? Herby can help. The gardening assistant in the app answers questions and offers personalized tips – for example, on the best location or the right fertilizer.
