In this post, we'll show you how to set up your Boum pots and prepare them for use. In the app, you'll find detailed step-by-step instructions including videos, and you can directly select whether you're using Pro pots, Core pots, or Classic pots.
Overview: Assembling Boum Pots
What's included
Boum pots consist of the following components:
- 1x soil container (upper part)
- 1x reservoir (lower part)
- 1x hose
- 1x float valve
- 8x wicks
- 8x wick holders incl. nuts (except for Standard pots)
- 1x connector
- 1x end piece
Reservoir assembly
The float valve, which regulates the water supply, is installed in the reservoir. To do this, remove the black nut and insert the float valve from the inside through the opening of the reservoir. Make sure it is mounted in such a way that the float valve can move vertically upwards!
Now fix the nut from the outside and attach the connector with the middle (!) opening onto the float valve.
Soil container assembly
Now you insert the wicks into the soil container, which will guide the water from the reservoir to the plants.
Pro and Core Pots
If you have black wick holders (Pro and Core Pots), you can remove the nut and insert them from above into the holes of the soil container. Then, lay the pot on its side and screw the wick holders with the nuts.
Note: Turn the nuts until you feel a slight resistance. The nuts do not need to be overtightened.
Now insert the white wicks from below into the wick holders, so that they are flush at the bottom and protrude 5mm at the top.
Standard Pots
If you have Standard Pots, you'll find white wick holders that are simply inserted and not screwed. Insert them from above into the holes of the soil container and then insert the white wicks from below, so that they are flush at the bottom and protrude 5mm at the top.
Assembling soil container and reservoir
Once you have prepared both the reservoir and the soil container, you can now assemble them by placing the soil container onto the reservoir in the correct orientation. In this blog post, you'll learn how to properly connect the pots to each other and attach them to the control system.
