The mountain eggplant produces extremely tasty fruits, about the size of chestnuts, which add value to stews, sauces and much more! As soon as the mountain eggplants turn purple and the papery shell bursts open, they are ready to be harvested. The mountain eggplant continuously produces new fruits, so you can enjoy them all season long.

The mountain eggplant is an annual plant and is grown sustainably . It can be planted directly into the Boum system and grows optimally with the Boum soil and irrigation.

Note: The mountain eggplant can grow relatively tall. We therefore recommend tying the plant up with a trellis.

The seedlings will be grown in spring and delivered to your home conveniently and safely packaged from May 2025. Since the plant does not tolerate frost, this is the perfect time to plant it in your home.

The purple eggplant (Physalis ixocarpa) prefers a bright and sunny location in order to grow optimally and produce fruit. It is also important to protect the location from wind and draughts, as the plant can react sensitively to these conditions.
If you do not have a Boum system, it may be necessary to water the plant daily during the summer months. Fertilising is also important, especially during the growth and fruiting phase. It is best to use the Boum fertiliser, which decomposes slowly over time and releases its nutrients into the soil.
