The tank holds 55 litres of water. But the real magic lies in the solar-powered controller. It seals the tank and is the brain of the system. Its built-in pump waters your plants daily, for up to 30 days without refilling.
So you don't have to worry about your plants while you're on holiday - Boum takes care of them. And thanks to the Wi-Fi connection, you can keep an eye on your plants from anywhere. Sensors measure water consumption and the balcony climate and send notifications in the Boum App, keeping you and your plants happy throughout the year.

Self-regulating planters
Boum's designer planters, available as pots and balcony planters, have a unique feature: capillary wicks that draw water from the pot's built-in reservoir to maintain optimal soil moisture.
With Boum planters, you can grow trees, vegetables, herbs, flowers and shrubs – with beautiful results that surpass anything you can achieve with conventional pots! The pots connect to the water tank via a discreet, easy-to-install hose, providing a fully automatic water supply for several weeks. Boum pots are made from an 80 % recycled mineral-plastic blend with a hand finish. They are decorative, impact- and break-resistant, easy to move, and resistant to UV and frost.
Constant soil moisture
The self-regulating, calibrated wick irrigation system ensures constant soil moisture. A float valve regulates the water supply. A quick-connect connector allows for easy hose connection.

Boum or drip irrigation?
Why is the Boum system better than conventional drip irrigation? It’s simple. The controller measures the water level in the water tank and pumps water into our planters. From there, wicks draw the water up into the soil. Soil moisture regulates itself according to the plant’s water needs, creating an optimal moisture gradient for healthy root development. Completely self-regulating. Even without a mains electricity or water connection.

How often do I need to refill the water tank?
In midsummer, a pot outdoors uses an average of 0.5 - 1 litre of water per day. This means that with 3 pots you fill up the tank approximately every 3 weeks, and with 5 pots approximately every 2 weeks.
Indoors, a pot uses about 0.1 L of water per day all year round.
How many Boum pots can I connect to one watering system?
You can connect up to 12 planters to one water tank. In midsummer, an outdoor pot uses around 0.5 - 1 L of water per day; indoors, it uses around 0.1 L per day all year round.
Does Boum work without Wi-Fi?
Yes. The irrigation must be connected to the WLAN once for configuration. It then works autonomously, even without WiFi. In this case, no sensor data is displayed in the app.
Can I use my own plant pots?
Boum only works with Boum planters.
However, you can place these inside other containers (outer pots) and keep using your own colours and shapes.
Which soil should I use?
For outdoor plants, we recommend the Boum potting soil, which was specially developed for Boum irrigation and Boum plants. You can also use your own soil. It is important that it has a good connection to the wicks and draws the water up into the upper layers.
For houseplants we recommend Boum houseplant soil.
Which plants can I grow with the irrigation system?
We have successfully tested the Boum system with many different indoor and outdoor plants. The system is particularly suitable for plants that like to grow in moist soil. Plants that prefer dry soil (e.g. succulents) are less suitable. If you order plants from us, you are on the safe side - they are definitely suitable for the system.
