The Boum Core Set includes a Boum controller (smart pump), a Boum Core water tank with a 32 L capacity, and two Boum Core pots with a soil volume of 13 L each.

Boum Core Water Tank & Controller
The tank holds 32 liters of water. The real magic, however, lies in the control unit, which includes the solar-powered pump. This pump serves as the tank lid and is the brain of the system. It refills the reservoirs of the connected pots once a day, ensuring the plants always have water available. Outdoors, a single tankful lasts for several weeks, and indoors, even for several months! So you don't have to worry about your plants while you're on vacation or busy with everyday life – Boum takes care of them.
Boum Core pots
The Boum Core pots have a unique feature: capillary wicks at the bottom draw water from the pot's built-in reservoir into the soil, ensuring optimal soil moisture. This provides plants with 24/7 access to water without the risk of waterlogging. Furthermore, the plant itself regulates its water consumption, drawing only as much water as it needs at any given time. The system then automatically refills the water reservoir and supplies the plant with the necessary water.
With Boum Core pots, you can grow vegetables, herbs, flowers, shrubs, and houseplants – with beautiful results that surpass anything you've achieved with conventional pots and watering methods! The pots are connected to the water tank via a discreet, easy-to-install hose, providing a completely autonomous water supply for several weeks. Discreet cable channels allow for virtually invisible tubing, even indoors. Made of polypropylene (PP), Boum pots are decorative, impact- and shatter-resistant, easy to move, and UV- and frost-resistant.

Water tank including control unit
The tank holds 32 liters of water. Thanks to this, you don't need a water connection on your balcony for automatic plant watering; you simply fill it up every few weeks with a watering can. The real magic, however, lies in the Boum control system – a smart, solar-powered pump. It's built into the lid that seals the tank and is the brain of the system. It waters your plants daily, and thanks to the integrated ultrasonic sensor, you'll be notified in time when the tank is running low.
The lid contains many more sensors. These measure, for example, the daily amount of water pumped, the temperature on your balcony, and the amount of sunlight. This data is displayed clearly and understandably in the app.
Smart irrigation
In addition to the various sensors, the controller also features an adaptive power-saving mode. This adjusts the frequency of water level measurements to the available sunlight and ensures that the pump always has enough power (even after several days without sun) to supply the pots with water.
The lid is also designed to collect rainwater falling on it and direct it into the tank. A special UV filter on the surface prevents the lid from fading, even in highly exposed locations.
Self-regulating pots
The Boum Core pots are specially designed and consist of a water reservoir (at the bottom) and a soil container above it. Capillary wicks connect these two containers, drawing water from the bottom to the top. The plant itself decides how much water it needs!
Our patented wick irrigation system encourages the plant to develop deep roots. This makes it more robust, allows it to absorb nutrients more effectively, and provides better protection against pests. Furthermore, bottom irrigation eliminates water loss through evaporation or runoff.
Constant soil moisture
The self-regulating wick irrigation system ensures constant soil moisture in the ground container. A float valve regulates the water flow from the tank to the reservoir. The hoses are easy to connect thanks to the simple quick-connect system.

Is Boom Core suitable for beginners?
Yes, absolutely! Boum Core was specifically designed for beginners, but it's also perfect for more experienced gardeners. Setup is incredibly easy, the system automates watering, and reminds you to fertilize at the right time. The app not only provides an overview but also helpful explanations, and our AI gardening assistant Herby, as well as our human support team, are always there to assist you. So nothing stands in the way of a lush green balcony.
How does Boum Core differ from Boum Pro?
The Boum Core pots are lighter, more compact, and more affordable, and with a 13-liter soil volume, they are perfect for plants such as herbs, vegetables, and flowers. This makes them ideal for small to large balconies. Boum Pro pots, on the other hand, with 15 and 30-liter capacities, even offer enough space for small balcony trees and are better suited for very large balconies and terraces.
Tip: Boum Pro and Boum Core can be combined! The controls are identical. You can simply connect the Boum Core pots to your Pro water tank and add them to your existing system in the app (or vice versa).
How often do I have to refill the water tank?
In midsummer, a pot outdoors uses an average of 0.5 - 1 litre of water per day. This means that with 3 pots you fill up the tank approximately every 3 weeks, and with 5 pots approximately every 2 weeks.
Indoors, a pot uses about 0.1 L of water per day all year round.
How many Boum pots can I connect to an irrigation system?
You can connect up to 12 plant pots to one water tank. One pot uses about 0.5 - 1 L of water per day outdoors in midsummer, and about 0.1 L per day indoors all year round.
Does Boum also work without WiFi?
Yes. The irrigation must be connected to the WLAN once for configuration. It then works autonomously, even without WiFi. In this case, no sensor data is displayed in the app.
Can I use my own flower pots?
Boum only works with Boum planters.
However, you can place them in other containers (outer pots) and continue to use your own colors and shapes.
Which soil should I use?
For outdoor plants, we recommend the Boum potting soil, which was specially developed for Boum irrigation and Boum plants. You can also use your own soil. It is important that it has a good connection to the wicks and draws the water up into the upper layers.
For houseplants we recommend Boum houseplant soil.
Which plants can I grow with the irrigation system?
We have successfully tested the Boum system with many different indoor and outdoor plants. The system is particularly suitable for plants that like to grow in moist soil. Plants that prefer dry soil (e.g. succulents) are less suitable. If you order plants from us, you are on the safe side - they are definitely suitable for the system.
