June is just around the corner and is ushering in summer again this year. Summer, sun, sunshine!๐๏ธ
- Have you thought about what you're going to do this summer? ๐ค
- Are you going south, to the mountains or are you relaxing at home? ๐๏ธ
- But...what happens to your plants while you're away? ๐ถ
To ensure that your plants remain beautifully green even after you are away, today we present 4 tips and tricks on what you can do for them.
1. Water heavily and hope
The easiest thing you can do is to move your plants to a shadier spot if possible and water them thoroughly before you leave๐ง.
This may work depending on the type of plant and the length of your absence. However, if you are away for a long time or your plants are not as easy to care for, another option may be better for you.
2. Plant sitter
Another option is to ask family members, friends or neighbors to look after your plants while you are away and to water them if necessary ๐ค. The disadvantage is that perhaps no one has the time or doesn't know what kind of care your plants need. Of course, it should be someone you trust.

3. DIY irrigation
If you like to tinker and experiment, you can poke holes in the lids of PET bottles, fill them with water and stick them upside down in the soil. Something similar can also be done with clay cones, which then release moisture into the soil ๐ฑ.
ATTENTION: Try it out first! ๐จFind out first how much water your plants like and try out this system beforehand. Sometimes this watering is only enough for a few days.
4. Worry-free package Boum
The Boum irrigation system is like a private plant sitter that waters automatically and knows exactly how much water your plants need . All you have to do is fill the water tank before your vacation! โจ
This way, your plants will neither be overwatered nor underwatered, you will be independent of other people and can go on holiday without any worries ๐ค .
How long a tank full lasts depends on the number of pots, the plants and the weather. Using the Boum app, you can easily see the water consumption and it tells you how long the water will last.
Hot tip : If your water tank runs dry during the holidays, your plants will still have water for a few days via the reservoirs in the pots and the soil, so no stress ๐. If you are still not at home, you can easily share your system with your loved ones via the household feature - they can then easily fill up the tank for you and you can see straight away whether it worked. โค๏ธ
