How Boum works
1. The water tank with solar panel and sensors measures the water level.
2. Water is pumped into the pots via a discreet hose. Completely automatically, running for 20 days without refilling.

We are a Swiss team of biologists, engineers, and developers. Together with Prof. Matthias Erb from the University of Bern, we developed Boum – for you and everyone who loves plants.

2. Build
As soon as spring arrives, we'll conveniently ship the kit to your home. It can be set up, planted, and connected to Wi-Fi in just a few minutes.
3. Enjoy
Fill the tank every few weeks when the app tells you to. That's it! From now on, you can watch your plants grow. If you have any questions, just ask in the app. We'll help you personally.

The solar-powered water tank fits anywhere. It waters your plants autonomously and notifies you via the app when it needs refilling. It collects rain and only needs to be refilled every 2-3 weeks.

Matthew Erb
Matthias knows almost everything there is to know about plants - and that is no exaggeration. He is a professor and co-director of the institute at the University of Bern and has almost 25 years of experience in biology and plant sciences. He was educated at Imperial College, ETHZ and the Max Planck Institute. He is a proud father of two children, a passionate organic farmer and, most importantly, the initiator and co-founder of Boum. Matthias holds several patents and is a multiple award winner, from teacher of the year to being in the top 1% of the world's most cited scientists in animal and plant science.

Ludwig Auer
Ludwig could probably build rockets, but instead he uses his talent to help you reconnect with nature. An ETH graduate with a PhD in seismology, his early career saw him create three-dimensional models of the Earth based on earthquake data and he was part of the team that launched Tracktics, a wearable for football players. After designing an irrigation system for himself with the help of his father, he realized his true passion lies in bringing joy to people by helping them.
